How to Add a UNC Share

After you have chosen a Job Name, select UNC Files (i.e., Universal Naming Convention files) from the Backup Source Type list. You must enter the Network Account credentials that will enable the backup process to "Run As" (those credentials) to access the Network UNC share. Enter the User Name, Password, and Domain (if necessary). Click "Next" to continue.

UNC Files:

UNC Shares allow you to browse and back up network resources via UNC paths (for Windows Agents only). The UNC Share will be the root for the browse, instead of a device letter. Using UNC gives you flexibility with remote files and directories.

"Network UNC Share" only allows you to select files and directories (not System State, RSM databases, or Event Logs).

Next, you are presented with the Source Selection screen, which shows the Network Share as the root of the hierarchy (rather than a drive letter).

When you choose to add a UNC Share, you are prompted for the path of the UNC Share to which to browse (for example, \\192.168.1.2\MyShare). If the path or credentials are not valid, you will see an error message: "An error occurred during the browse."

Click "OK". You can now select files and directories to include/exclude. Click "Next" when your selection is complete.
