Create Log File / Detail Level / Keeping Log Files

Create log file

Selecting this checkbox instructs the system to generate log files for each Job. These viewable and printable log files contain the start-connect-completion and disconnect times, file names (i.e., the names of the files that were copied during backup), and any processing errors.

Log detail level

You can choose from these levels of detail logging: None, Summary, Directories, and Files.

More detailed logging creates larger log files. You would normally use it for troubleshooting.

Changing the detail level only affects log files that are created from that point and after. It does not affect previously created log files.

Keeping log files

Automatically purge expired log files:

Automatic purging deletes the log file associated with a backup when the backup is deleted. You can choose to automatically purge expired log files, or keep a selected number of them before they are deleted (oldest one first).

Keep the last <number of> log files:

You may specify a number here, whereby the system will keep that number of log files associated with the backup. When the number is reached, the oldest log file will be deleted to make space for the newest one.
